Solicitor/Senior Solicitor - Criminal Litigation

Hours: Full-Time

In response to continued growth of the firm’s litigation practice, we have an exciting opportunity for a solicitor to join our criminal team.

About the role:

We are on the search for a high-performing solicitor to continue to strengthen our criminal defence team. You will be involved in all aspects of our criminal practice including advising on matters involving drug charges, serious assaults, dishonesty, traffic-related offending, and limited licence applications.

You will be involved with drafting court documents and letters of advice, preparing submissions, legal researching and assisting with all aspects of court preparation. Our team make regular appearances before the District Court, and have made appearances in the High Court and Court of Appeal. We are a Criminal Legal Aid provider firm, and you will get the opportunity to develop your Legal Aid provider approval level.
You will enjoy the support of working closely with the firm’s litigation Principals, and Senior members of the team in an environment where you will be supported and encouraged to build in your experience, and to further develop your technical and advocacy skills.

What we are looking for in a candidate:

• 2-5 years' PQE with criminal litigation experience. If you have slightly less PQE but think you fit the criteria of the position, we encourage you to still apply.
• PAL 1 or PAL 2 Legal Aid level approval or the ability to get approved promptly.
• Strong written communication skills including sound legal research skills and an ability to draft high quality legal documents.
• Strong communication skills with a strength in building client relationships.
• Someone who is a practical thinker and who is highly accurate, and detail focused.
• Someone with a confident, pro-active and enthusiastic approach to their work.
• A motivated worker with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to deliver results.
