Waitemata Community Law Centre is looking for two dynamic intermediate lawyers who will be instrumental to the success of our growing legal team. WCLC is one of New Zealand’s largest independent Community Law Centres.

Our legal team comprises lawyers, legal advisers and law clerks who provide services from our Henderson offices and at outreach clinics and education sessions across Waitematā.

Our catchment covers 450,000 Aucklanders in West and North-West Auckland, as far north as Warkworth. We are in a growth phase, with an experienced new management team committed to improving and expanding our reach.

Our successful applicants for this position will:

  • Be an intermediate lawyer; minimum of 3 years' PQE, admitted to the roll of Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of NZ with a current practicing certificate.
  • Have broad general experience, preferably including immigration, family, employment and criminal law (Specialisation in one of these areas would be a bonus).
  • Be able to provide legal advice that is accurate and accessible to individuals and audiences from all backgrounds.
  • Inspire and support junior lawyers and law student volunteers to grow their skills and confidence in a collaborative and coaching environment.
  • Work as part of the senior management team to develop services that systematically expand access to justice and incorporate a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
