Family Lawyer - New Plymouth

Govett Quilliam is one of Taranaki’s most enterprising law firms with a strong brand and exceptional people. Located in a strong business community in the heart of Taranaki, Govett Quilliam prides itself on delivering legal excellence to its clients. From navigating the complexities of corporate governance to guiding families through their most intimate challenges, we are dedicated to securing the best outcomes for our clients.

We require a 1-3 years’ PQE lawyer to join our highly regarded Family Law team.

We are looking for a confident, proactive candidate with passion for family law matters, a flair for initiative and a natural personable approach essential to supporting family law clients. Working alongside an incredibly motivated, supportive, diverse and experienced team, you will be someone who demonstrates integrity and drive.

The work will involve wide-ranging family matters, from care of children and family violence proceedings, to relationship property and estate disputes. You will also have the opportunity to work on various health and professional disciplinary proceedings. Our lawyers are well versed in Legal Aid and private clientele with the same quality of work you would expect in the major cities (without the traffic jams). You will receive support and mentorship from our two partners and the wider team.

With Taranaki Maunga visible from the office, the moana just a short stroll away, and cafes, restaurants and museums right around the corner, Taranaki is an exceptional place to live and work. And, with our focus on team culture, we prioritise making GQ the best place to practise law.

  • We promote a healthy work-life balance
  • We are committed to helping our team continuously improve through training and exposure to high quality and varied work
  • We collaborate across teams and projects and leverage the skills and experience of each other
  • We endorse new technology and our office reflects our move to becoming a fully digital practice
  • We value and nurture authentic connections within our community

If you would like to join the GQ experience, please submit your CV and cover letter to our Recruitment Team, kirsten.dawson@gqlaw.nz.
