Do you want to live in a mild climate where you can walk, ride or take a short drive to work?
Woodward Chrisp is a well-established firm of 40 working in spacious offices, with modern technology and excellent support staff. We value hard work but also make sure all staff have time to enjoy the relaxed Gisborne lifestyle with its sun, surf and social life in the heart of local wine country. The position and environment are ideally suited to a person who appreciates all that living in a small regional city has to offer.
The ideal candidate for this position will have minimum 2-3 years' PQE in New Zealand, and PAL 1 approval with Legal Aid Services (or the ability to gain such a listing) and have completed duty lawyer training. Previous civil law experience in areas such as family law, property law and employment would be a bonus. We have a permanent position available but would also consider a short-term contract role to cover a maternity leave vacancy as well.
We are looking for someone as equally passionate about criminal justice issues as we are. Building credibility with judges, peers and others in the legal community will be important to you. As part of a tight team you will enjoy exchanging ideas and brainstorming solutions. You will have empathy and the ability to relate to a wide range of people.
