Removal of your company details - don't be fooled
A New Zealand law firm has reported receiving a new variation on the Europe and World Business Guide scam.
The scam comes in a well-presented letter from "The Corporate Portal" which asks the recipient to revise and approve their information "promtly" (rather spoiling the effect).
A form is included, already pre-filled within information on the company to which it is sent.
To cut a long story short, the sting comes in a screed of information at the bottom, which includes the statement: "The information provided will appear as an advertisement for a term of three years ... Annual billing in the amount of 1411 NZD is due upon issue of the invoice. The order is prolonged annually if no cancellation is provided by a registered letter. This cancellation notice has to be given three months before order expiration."
Warnings about the fraud have been posted overseas.

In order to avoid the removal of your incomplete company details, please revise and approve your information promtly.
Should the information provided not be correct or be incomplete, you have the opportunity to correct your information as a basic data entry (Name, Trade, City - Postcode, Internet Address) under www.portal-nz.org; Menu item: Update. You will not be charged for this!
If you require the publication of further company details which exceeds the scope of the basic data entry, please make use of the attached form and return it to us. As our company is not affiliated with a public authority or any official entity, this entry is subject to a charge. In this case, please ensure that all information is signed by the entrepreneur or his authorised signatory. The application for an entry in the Corporate Portal is targeted at companies, self-employed persons, institutions and authorities - and not at private persons.
